Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Mcknight Web Development collects, why it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

Who is responsible for your data?
Mcknight Web Development is responsible for the personal information handled through this website and customer portal. For privacy questions, data requests, or deletion requests, email hello@mckwebdev.com.
We have not listed a physical office address because one has not been provided for publication on the website. If a formal postal address is needed for a contract or data request, ask by email.

Customer accounts created from enquiries
When you send an enquiry, a private customer account may be created so you can verify your email, follow progress, receive updates, and message Mcknight Web Development about the project. The form explains this before you submit it.
You do not have to use the portal to make an enquiry. You can email hello@mckwebdev.com directly if you prefer.
Cookies and analytics
The Google tag loads in consent mode so the site can be connected to Google Analytics, but analytics storage and analytics cookies stay denied unless you accept analytics cookies. If you reject analytics cookies, analytics storage remains denied and the site will try to remove existing Google Analytics cookies for this site.
Essential cookies or local storage may still be used for security, account login, contact form drafts, and remembering your cookie choice. Read the cookie policy for the full list.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with service providers that help operate the website and deliver services.
- Cloudflare: hosting, DNS, security, Pages Functions, Turnstile, and related infrastructure.
- Resend: sending enquiry and account emails when email delivery is configured.
- Google Analytics: website analytics only after analytics cookie consent, using Google Consent Mode before consent is granted.
- Customer feedback records: satisfaction ratings and comments submitted through the customer portal.
- Professional advisers or authorities: only if needed for legal, accounting, tax, dispute, or regulatory reasons.
Customer feedback and public testimonials
Customers may choose to leave satisfaction feedback through the customer portal after a project. This helps improve the service and understand what worked well.
Feedback is not published as a public testimonial unless the wording is real, suitable, and approved for publication. We do not invent reviews, client names, star ratings, or project outcomes.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the provider’s transfer safeguards, contractual terms, and compliance measures. This can include services operated by Cloudflare, Google, or Resend.
How long we keep information
- Unsuccessful enquiries: usually up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless a longer period is needed for legal or dispute reasons.
- Customer portal and project records: for the duration of the project and normally up to 6 years afterwards where they relate to contracts, invoices, or business records.
- Security logs and audit logs: normally up to 12 months, unless needed longer to investigate abuse, fraud, or disputes.
- Contact form drafts in your browser: stored in session storage and normally cleared when you submit the form or close the browser session.
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics cookies may last up to 2 years unless you reject cookies, clear your browser cookies, or Google’s settings/browser rules shorten this.

Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:
- be told how your information is used;
- access a copy of your personal information;
- ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
- ask for information to be deleted in certain circumstances;

Marketing
We do not use your enquiry details for unrelated email marketing. If newsletter or marketing emails are added in future, they should use a separate opt-in or a clear lawful basis and unsubscribe option.
Children
This website is aimed at businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has provided personal information, email hello@mckwebdev.com.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the ICO, the UK data protection regulator. The ICO website is ico.org.uk.
